hold on to the moon

you shouldn’t be here
not now in the broad of day
hanging so white against the blue
my eyes hang onto the rope
that tied the knot
to the clouds in your eyes

searching the grounds
dirt of disappointments
no halo on this head
too late to ask why
like the moon in fetal curl
you hanging white against blue

I cant ask for forgiveness
for I don’t know what I said
except perhaps too much
only what I would give
if just once our eyes had locked together
like hands

and we had held the moon
